From Fieldwork to Film Nights: Embracing the Colors of Delhi and Udaipur

Hello!

This week has been a whirlwind of activities, starting from our meticulous planning at the office to a refreshing cinematic break, and then a scenic escapade to Udaipur.

The week kicked off with our team deeply engrossed in planning for the upcoming field visit. There are two key activities we aim to accomplish during this visit. First, we will be conducting a focus group discussion (FGD) with the Second Chance alumni to delve deeper into the intangible outcomes of the program. Secondly, we aim to interview recent enrollees to grasp what drives them to continue their education. As mentioned in my previous post, I have been diligently drafting the agenda and questions for the FGD and framing the interview guidelines. While the basic structure is in place, it's evident that we will need a few iterations with the local team to ensure the questions resonate with the local context. Meanwhile, the Second Chance team is making strategic choices to decide the ideal targets for our visit. The anticipation is mounting, and I genuinely believe this field visit will be the pinnacle of my internship experience.

Amidst this industrious atmosphere, I managed to squeeze in some leisure time. I treated myself to a film - 'Barbie' - at the Promenade Mall in Vasant Kunj, joined by an alumni friend from HKS MPP who now calls Delhi home. It was an entertaining experience that left me refreshed.

The cherry on top of this exciting week was a weekend getaway to Udaipur with a dear classmate from HKS who flew into India especially for this adventure. Udaipur, with its serene lakes and majestic palaces, was an absolute visual treat. From palace visits to sunset views from rooftop bars, the city enveloped us in its charm. Our dining experiences at the Leela and Oberoi added a touch of luxury, complementing the beauty that surrounded us.

In a nutshell, this week was a beautiful blend of work, wanderlust, and wonderful memories. As always, I'm eager to share more of my journey with you all in the coming days.

Warm regards,

Safira
